The tenacious woman

September 2, 2021UncategorizedEudaimonic

On my walk one day I met a lady who taught me a great lesson in positivity. She had lost her only brother to suicide a few years back, and in the months following this heartbreaking incident while she was still trying hard to come to terms with it, her marriage was falling apart which finally led to a bitter divorce. She now lives alone with her 9-year-old daughter in a city far away from all whom she calls family. What made me sit up and notice was her sheer grit, tenacity, strength and above all a huge amount of self belief and confidence in her. She works for an MNC and volunteers her time in an orphanage during weekends. Besides, she takes active part in environmental and garbage issues around the neighborhood, is an avid gardener and pursues her childhood passion – dance and music. All these and more while providing a nurturing care to her child.

I learnt an important life lesson from her- Life is perhaps not fair to all, but our attitude, perception and courage helps to deal with life’s trials & tribulations. ·
